How to Install Cut Video Gaps on Your Mac

1

Locate the downloaded Cut-Video-Gaps_1.1.0.dmg in your Downloads folder and double-click to mount it.

2

Drag to Applications

Drag the Cut Video Gaps application icon into your Mac's Applications folder shortcut shown in the installer window.

3

Launch & Cut Silence

Open Cut Video Gaps from Launchpad or Applications. Drag in your raw footage and review detected silence gaps.

What to do if macOS displays a security prompt

Because this is an independent public beta build, macOS Gatekeeper may display a prompt stating the app cannot be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.

To launch the app:

  1. Open Cut Video Gaps from your Applications folder once. When the warning appears, click Done.
  2. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll down to the Security section, and click Open Anyway next to the message about Cut Video Gaps.
  3. Confirm with your password or Touch ID, then click Open Anyway in the dialog. From then on the app opens normally.

On macOS 13 and 14 you can also hold Control, click the app in Applications and choose Open; macOS 15 and later removed that shortcut. Apple explains the process in Open a Mac app from an unknown developer.
