The core principle of Cut Video Gaps is total local privacy for your media footage. When you use the Cut Video Gaps desktop app for Mac:
- Zero video or audio uploads: Your video and audio never leave your Mac. Your video files, audio tracks, speech transcripts, and editing metadata remain exclusively on your computer.
- Firebase account & quota check: While video and audio processing runs locally on your Mac with zero media uploads, a small account and quota check uses Google Firebase to verify user credentials and track monthly beta export quota. Data transmitted during this check is limited to authentication identifiers and monthly quota metrics needed to enforce beta allowances.
- No remote speech recognition servers: Speech recognition is performed locally using the bundled Whisper model executed by a local Python runtime on your Mac CPU hardware.
- No cloud AI API calls: The desktop app makes zero API calls to OpenAI, Google Cloud, AWS, or any remote AI service for transcription or cutting.
- No telemetry on footage: The application does not collect filenames, video durations, transcripts, or video frames.
2. Website Analytics (cutvideogaps.com)
When you visit our marketing website at cutvideogaps.com, standard anonymous web analytics are collected via Google Tag Manager (container ID: GTM-58FR996K) and Google Analytics 4 (GA4).
These analytics help us understand aggregate traffic trends (such as page views, referral sources, and download button clicks) and improve website performance. We do not sell this data to advertisers or third parties.
3. Windows Beta Waitlist Email Storage (Firebase)
If you voluntarily submit your email address into our Windows Beta Waitlist form, we collect your email address solely to notify you when the Windows desktop build becomes available for testing.
Waitlist email submissions are stored securely in Google Cloud Firebase (Cloud Firestore) using industry-standard encryption and restrictive security rules. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties or advertising networks.
